The sun returned today which lifts
everyone’s spirits around here. The only
bad part was, we couldn’t do much to be out in it. We spiffed up the condo this morning and
cleaned up from last night’s dinner party.
Kory took Kaleb over to Daniel’s house and we waited until noon for our
open house.
Several people came by, but again,
I was so bummed that there wasn’t anyone I’d want to rent to. I had prayed this morning that God would send
us the right fit and wouldn’t you know, the last person to come was a single
Norwegian woman who is a friends with many people we know! She also goes to church with Kory’s old boss,
so we sweetened the pot for her as much as we could to get her to agree to live
here, and she wants to rent it - so there was a huge HALLELUJAH party going on
in our place afterwards. Whew! I was getting so stressed out about having
the wrong fit, not just for our place, but for the neighbors around us as they
are all old and wouldn’t take well to foreigners or kids. This was the best case scenario so we are
most thankful. And she needs to be out
of her place by the 30th so she can move in the day after we move
out. Another Hallelujah. We are SOOOOO thankful! God is good, all the time!
After the official time was over
for the “showing,” Kory and I left so we could stop by several places. We went by Odd’s house to find out where to
get a rental agreement form and he invited us back for dinner tonight so that
was a good stop!
We went by Daniel’s house to see
if Kaleb was sitting inside on his computer or outside playing in the
sunshine. My fears were right as they
were sitting in a dark room glued to electronics. We put them in the car and drove them a few
miles from Daniel’s house and told them to get out and walk back to Daniel’s
house which actually involved climbing over a mountain to get there, and they
did it. I thought that was kinda funny.
We then went to the cousin’s house (above) who is coming to visit us this summer to drop off some small, heavy boxes of
dishes and things I’m hoping they have room to bring with them in their
luggage. We also went over more details
of their time in America as they are all wrapped around the axel about this
trip. They’ve contacted more cousins and
second cousins in America and Canada and Mexico and it seems they will be
having all kinds of family gathering on their behalf. One cousin is even flying up from Mexico to
greet them and Kory will be taking them to Canada one day to see another family
member (second cousin to Kory) no one’s ever met. So it should be some big celebrations going
on while they are with us. Terje has
been saving money he inherited from his mom 13 years ago, just for this trip,
so it’s truly a once in a lifetime thing for him and a big dream come true – so
I hope he’s not disappointed.
Dinner tonight with Odd and Turid (above) was
outside on their deck and consisted of wild salmon Odd caught, hot off the
grill, and lobster given to him by a patient.
Boy did Kory break his Vegan diet tonight! It was decedent and we were so thankful to be
sitting outside in the sunshine while we ate.
I didn’t even realize it was after midnight when we left because the
neighbor guy was out painting on his house at that time! We had a wonderful visit with them as it
feels more like home at their place than any other place, since we’ve always
stayed with them in the past. The day
they sell their home will be a sad day for me, but then they will be living in the
same condo building as us, so Kory wants to come back and live here a year when
that time comes. We’ll see. We have much to do between now and then in
America and we can just relax now, knowing our condo will be in good hands –
AND making money while we’re gone. What
a concept, as it’s never made a dime in the past. It feels like we are turning a new
corner. Hallelujah! Oh, I’m sooooo thankful.
